Virginia Charter

Well Disposed Subjects

Author: King James and various

Audience: civilians of the colony

Purpose: to declare the borders, ownership and purpose of the land that they have claimed as their own. They used it to show everyone that the land was theirs, using the piece of paper as proof.

Tone: Serious. They are not going to take no for an answer and are not going to be refused. And authorative. (What everyone else said)

It is not a persuasive writing. They are taking this land, no one is going to say otherwise, and if they do then they would just show this piece of paper as proof that it is theirs. They are going to change anyone that’s different and if they don’t cooperate they will be killed (my opinion of what was said).
